“St. Petersburg through Camera” Cinema Festival in London


A festival of Russian cinema, “St. Petersburg through Camera”, has been opened in London. According to Novosti Russian information agency, the festival is being held within the framework of the Russian Nights program commemorating the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg.

The program of the festival, which will last until July 4, includes a wide range of Russian films originating from various epochs and covering various subjects. The audience are offered Grigory Kozintsev’s historical pictures Hamlet (1964) and King Lear (1970), films about the revolution: Sergei Eisenstein’s October (1927) and Friedrich Ermler’s The Remnant of the Empire (1932), as well as modern films: Vitaly Melnikov’s Czar’s Hunting (1997), Alexander Rogozhkin’s Peculiar Features of Russian Hunting (1995), Alexei Uchitel’s Mania of Giselle (1995) and other works of Russian cinema.
