Performance of Mariinsky Theater on Palace Square
A concert of Mariinsky Theater, “Commemorating the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg”, took place on Palace Square on May 28. This was a joint action of the theater and the Hermitage. The ballet dancers, the choir, the orchestra and the soloist of Mariinsky Theater participated in the concert. The conductor was Valery Gergiev. The concert included Balanchine’s version of Tchaikovsky’s ballet Serenade, the Polovets Camp scene from Prince Igor and Shadows from Mincus’s ballet La Bayadere. One could go to this concert free of charge.
Palace Square can house about 5 thousand persons.

I have seen this concert last night on television.
This has to be the best concert I have seen in years. As I am a lover of opera and specially of Russian voices. I say thank you to everyone that put up this concert and a special thanks to Valery Gergiev.
Please do more of these concerts.
